HAUTE Hair Tips: Drying 101

Great hair comes from a great partnership between you and your stylist, but there’s a lot you can do to help you replenish and maintain healthy locks between visits. The way you care for your hair will play a large role in how your style ends up looking and the more you know, the easier it will be to get that healthy, gorgeous hair we all love.

To help keep your style and color looking fresh and fabulous in-between salon appointments our pro styling team will be sharing weekly instalments of hair care tips, styling tricks and must-use products.

For all it’s regular and popular use, blow-drying can cause some unwanted damage to your hair if done wrong. The best hair-friendly results are achieved while the air stream and heat setting is on medium or low - it should feel comfortable on the back of your hand. Also, close contact between your blow dryer and hair will only result in dry, brittle hair and an irritated scalp. Once you’ve set your blow drying on a low-temperature setting allow enough space to fit your hand between the machine and your hair for the most part of the drying process. This simple, yet important technique will leave your hair with plenty of luster and bounce.

For some extra help and hair protection, you can also prep your hair with a multi-tasking hair primer that will help reduce the effect of heat and detangle wet stands.
